Beauty Shoot // London

Yesterday I finally got to work with the lovely photographer Ella Tebbutt where we created a beauty shoot in South-East London. I had the pleasure of working on an absolutely stunning model, Lily @ Nevs Models, having the perfect look to complete the beauty shoot. I created a 'bronzed glow' for the first look using a lot of golden/brown tones, keeping the eyebrows/eyelashes natural and a lot of contouring on the cheekbones and temples. Throughout the first look I added a burgundy colour lipstick which looked beautiful for the look. The second look was in the bath filled with water so, with the make-up I kept the golden tones on the eyes and added a light blue on the crease of the eyelid and then to make it a bit more striking I added an electric blue on the bottom lash line, blending it to the outer of the eye. I then finished the look by adding a coral colour to the lip. After I finished the beauty shoot I headed to Elite Model Agency where my good friend Benn was doing a test shoot. I had the pleasure of meeting the Californian model Meghan McLellan. Perfect day!

Friday Frills

A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape…

But a woman of strength uses the power of kindness to keep her soul in shape.

A strong woman isn’t afraid of anything…

But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear.

A strong woman won’t let anyone get the best of her…

But a woman of strength gives the best of herself to everyone.

A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids doing the same in the future…

A woman of strength realizes life’s mistakes can also be a blessing

in disguise and capitalizes on them.

A strong woman knows how to walk on a tightrope in high heels...

But a woman of strength masters the art of walking tall after stumbling over.

A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face…

But a woman of strength wears grace.

A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey …

But a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong…

A strong woman is one who gets her heart broken time and time again and still has the strength to gather the pieces to create a new life for herself.

This is a Salute to you, dear friends, each of whom is a Woman of Strength.

Makeup Wishlist SS13

1. Brow Palette  |  2. Doll Eyes Palette  |  3. Forecast Lips |  4. Flushed Palette  |  5. Paint Stick
6. Colour Base   |  7. Cream Colour Palette  |  8. Face Palette  |  9. Super Foundation  |  10. Tapered Brush
11. Setting Spray  |  12. RiRi Woo  |  13. Pigment  |  14. Bronzer  |  15. Glitter  |  16. Tinted Moisturizer

I've tried my hardest to limit myself to as little as possible for my makeup wishlist. But as a makeup artist myself I want another 200 products on top of this, and I would probably be blogging all day! As you can see I have quite a few palettes on my wishlist, and that's because they're so much easier to work with on shoots instead of having all tiny separate products, which you have to try and juggle whilst doing the model's makeup! Number 8 - Bobbi Brown's face palette has been on my wishlist for absolutely ages, mainly because it's priced at £185 and I can't part with it.. yet. Bobbi herself uses this palette for photo shoots and fashion shows and it looks incredible. It includes 20 shades of foundation (foundation stick), 14 shades of creamy concealer for under the eyes, and 11 shades of corrector for extra dark circles. Numbers 9 and 10 - Louise Young brushes. I already use nearly all her brushes which they have lasted me a good two years now and I wouldn't change them for the absolute world. These two brushes I'm in need of, the new super foundation brush looks like it would be incredible for blending and the tapered eye shadow brush I have been in need of a good one for a while. Number 13 - MAC's pigment. I can't express my love for this product! I've only got one for my kit at the moment which is a sort of copper colour (brilliant for summer tones) they are a bit pricey for how small they are - £15, but they do go a long way. I've had mine for about three years and I've only used a slight dust of it! Lastly, number 16 - Chantecaille Just Skin tinted moisturizer. At £57 I won't be purchasing it anytime soon but I first saw this product in a magazine (some celebrity uses it) I researched a lot about it and read so many good reviews, it's definitely on my wishlist for SS13. It's known for it's good coverage although it has a lightweight texture and, it protects your from the sun! Perfect.

Harper's Bazaar - A Fling with Ruffles

Harper's Bazaar en EspaƱol

May 2013 Issue

If runways trends and fashion editorials are anything to go by, (and they usually are), ruffles are going to be hugely in vogue this season. Photographer Benjamin Kanarek captures new top model Sasha Luss in an alluring editorial for the Latin American version of Harper's Bazaar magazine. The Russian beauty takes center stage in an array of frilly designer wear, persuading even the toughest critiques of this theatrical trend.

This is possibly one of the most beautiful and cinematic studio shots I have seen so far this year. Sasha is spellbinding in a flamboyant scarlet red ensemble by British designer Gareth Pugh. Her flowering tier-ruffled flamenco skirt encircles a pair of chicly tailored trousers and is accompanied by a high-neck top with frilled bell sleeves.

Marni brings us the more toned down version of the ruffled trend in a midnight blue low-neck peplum dress with flaired skirt.

Retro meets ruffles in a cafe-au-lait shaded sheath dress by Marc Jacobs, the neckline is fitted with a cream frilled button-up bib.

Sasha strikes a pose in a two-tone asymmetrical black and metallic grey dress by Lanvin, with a sophisticated set of ruffles placed strategically on the shoulder and back.

Balenciaga are always at the forefront of innovation, mastering the art of architectural folds and flounces in this arresting black and pink dress with 3-dimensional peplum waist.

Gucci serves up the ruffled trend in XXL for Spring 2013. Sasha models a cobalt blue pants suit with high-neck tunic featuring oversized ruffled sleeves.

Sharp tailoring at Saint Laurent is perfectly contrasted with the frivolity of ruffles, in this white silk frilled shirt, worn under a slick black tuxedo.

With frills, come romance, as seen on the Spring 2013 runway of Italian designer Francesco Scognamiglio. He presents an ethereal ice blue diaphanous gown, gently caressed by soft ruffles lined along the sleeves, bodice and skirt.

Are you in favor of the Ruffled Trend, is this something you would wear?

High Fashion

High Fashion, High Fashion Models, High Fashion designers, High Fashion tumblr
High Fashion - The term "high fashion" is typically used as a way of describing fashions that are trend-setting, unique, and exclusive. While mass market clothing is, er, mass-produced and easily accessed (and typically made with cheaper materials),

High Fashion designers - high fashion products are defined in part by their quality materials and high cost. So in other words, when you see five people at the mall wearing the same taupe pea coat as you (isn’t that the worst?), it was probably made very quickly in a factory, and thus, doesn’t fall under the high fashion umbrella. On the other hand, if you get a custom wedding dress made by Vera Wang, or fill your closet with vintage finds, or spend (too much) money at small, one-of-a-kind boutiques, those things would generally be considered high fashion.

BTS - Vu Cong Thanh's Private Collection

Yesterday I did makeup for the designer Vu Cong Thanh - for his private collection, held at a beautiful church in the center of Cambridge. I worked with head make-up artist - Freya Goodacre. Jasmine Eleazer and Jade Dixon where we had two models each to complete. The look was a flawless base, pink tone on the inner corners of the eyes taking it up to the brow, a lot of contouring below the cheekbones/temples and mainly focusing on the lips by creating an ombre lip using black as the outline and a dark red for the center. I was absolutely stunned by Thanh's collection he had made for SS14, the detail and effort he had put into everything! It was such a lovely day and met some really nice people.
